Panic At The Disco’s follow up to A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out will be released on March 24th.

The Las Vegas collective will be focusing more on their abilities as musicians and less on computer software.

“We just wanted the record to sound like four people playing a song,” says guitarist Ryan Ross. “A lot of the songs are definitely more geared toward playing live; we didn’t think about that on the last record.”

On this record The Beatles, Bob Dylan and The Rolling Stones have been the main influences. “I played harmonica on a song and did some slide guitar, which we’ve never done before,” Ross explains.

Metallica are close to completing their forthcoming album in LA with producer Rick Rubin. All that is left are the overdubs and James Hetfield’s vocals.

The band has compared Rubin’s methods to longtime Metallica producer Bob Rock.

Kirk Hammett said: “I have difficulty wading through all the ideas because I’m biased – I think everything we do has a lot of merit to it. In that regard Rick Rubin is great because he will just say, ‘Such and such a part is not good, so come up with something else.’ He just leaves the problem up to us and we just solve it between ourselves without too much interference from his side.”

Hetfield has high hopes for the album: “We don’t want pretty good, we want excellent and Rick is getting us to try and achieve that. Rick’s very good at getting the essence of an artist out and brining that back to the top again.”

The new Metallica album is due in the spring.

Kids In Glass Houses signed to Roadrunner Records on Saturday evening just before going on stage to support Funeral For A Friend on their current UK tour.

Vocalist Aled Phillips said: “We couldn’t be happier signing with Roadrunner Records. Everyone at the company gets and loves what we’re doing and what we hope to achieve, and that’s the most important thing. It’s been a long process, but we definitely feel we’ve made the best decision and feel totally at home. We can’t wait to get the record out!”

Roadrunner Records UK’s Mark Palmer said: “We have been watching the band closely for well over a year now and have seen them develop into amazing live performers with incredible songs. They will be a massive priority for Roadrunner in 2008.”

The nominations for the 50th annual Grammy Awards were announced at the weekend.

Foo Fighters were nominated for four Grammys, including Record Of The Year, and Album Of The Year. Paramore received a nomination for Best New Artist and Hey There Delilah by the Plain White T’s was nominated for Song Of The Year.

As I Lay Dying received a nomination in the Best Metal Performance category for Nothing Left, the first single from An Ocean Between Us.

Vocalist Tim Lambesis said: “I’m completely honoured! Who would have thought you could play metal and still make your parents this proud? Now I’ll have to go out and rent a tux to wear for the third time in my life. I knew I should have just bought one the first time…”

Other nominees in the Best Metal Performance Category include King Diamond, Machine Head, Shadows Fall and Slayer.

Tonight’s long-awaited Led Zeppelin reunion show at London’s O2 Arena will be recorded for DVD.

So those of you that weren’t able to get hold of the much sought-after tickets will, at least, be able to see the reunion from the comfort of your own living room.

Rumour has it that Robert Plant is waiting to see how well the band performs tonight before committing to any more shows.
